Default Turn-by-Turn without Nav?

I got a postcard from Ford saying (if I understand it) that I can get turn-by-turn directions, it appears, though a combination of Sync/Sirius/cellphone. It says that I do get charged for the call. Surely they're not going to keep me on the phone for the whole trip, are they? I don't have Nav. Do you have any experience or more info on this? Where is the info displayed without Nav?

Also, while I was driving the dash prompted me that it wanted to run a "vehicle health report". The 2nd time it came up, I said "OK". Shortly thereafter, it said that I'd been sent a text message. My phone got the message saying that I'd not logged my info and VIN into the Ford system... that's all it told me. What's with that 'report'?

I downloaded the new Sync services package. It is made for
Fusion owners who do not order the navigation package.
You call the service and the route is downloaded to Sync and
then the phone is disconnected. it will give you turn by turn
directions and display on the radio screen. The service is free for
three years. The directions for setting up the program is confusing
but if you call they will walk you through it.
There are other extras that are worth it (business find, weather etc)
The navigation system works well on the few test runs I have done, it
is similar to a GPS system without the graphics.
I used the business find. It found the business I wanted and following a command
connected to the business phone all hands free. It would have also downloaded directions to the business.

I think it is a great free option for all hybrid fusion owners.

I got the idea that it required a Sirius subscription. Is that true or not?

So I have to scroll through the prompts on the radio display as I navigate them, or is there some way it knows where I am?

THanks!

It does not need a sirius subscription.

Go to syncmyride.com and it will answer all your questions.
It is worth the effort to register and to set up the program
It is free for three years.
It works just like a GPS. It does know where you are at all times.
You download the route by phone and then the phone disconcects
and SYNC takes over. I have tried all the other features and they work
well. The route download took about 30 seconds.
There are a lot of FAQ's on the site and it can be confusing but
support persons both on the phone and email were great
You view the vehicle health report on line.

I hope I have been of some value to you

I created my Sync account tonight, but decided not to attempt my update until the weekend. Looks like several steps, not to mention having to re-pair my phone (Bluetooth) and report back to Ford that the update has been installed.

I tried to find anything on the site that says what the eventual subscription fee will be, but found no info. Anyone have any idea?

This really reinforces my decision not to spend $3k to get Nav. I already had a portable GPS that I liked, so didn't bother, but this is pretty interesting. I travel into new areas a lot.

There is a FAQ that mentions the service is free for three years and even though it is free for 3 years you have to renew every year.
The service will than be $ 95 per year.
Like you I did not get the nav package because I had a good portable
gps but this system works just as well without all the graphics.

You will need a flash drive with at least 1gig to do the download
and upload. I recomend you do the upload with the printed instructions in front of you. The syn voice has to say that the download was successful
twice before you can remove the flah drive.

I also had problems with the upload but it got done.
Support was helpful. Within one day the service was active

I think you will enjoy the system.
