17 inch 3680 chromes on 08 Escape Hybrid

Hi

I want to replace the 16 inch wheels with the 17 chrome 3680 wheel. Has anyone tried this?

The rims on the '08 are special lightweight rims for lower roll resistance. Steel rims are heavy and generally have problems being more out of round than the painted aluminum rims on your FEH. I have factory steel rims on my '02 Explorer and they have convinced me to never use steel rims again. The tire store told me all my steel rims were out of round and they find this all the time with steel rims.

If you get the steel rims, make sure they're good and round. Expect a MPG hit if they're heavier than the stock rim and tires. If the diameter is not the same as the factory tires and rims, you may need to have your PCM programmed for the changed to match wheel rotation with the other sensors in the eCVT. You can get a trouble code if the shaft rotations are to far off with the wheel rotations.
