Can't start my Ford Escape - Flood damaged - Please Help!

Hi!, I love this forum!! this is my first post ever! =D

Recently i had bought a flood damaged car from an online auction for salvage cars, It's a [Ford Escape Hybrid 2008] [4,500 Mile] flood damaged and i need to fix it up! when i try to start my car, nothing happens at all, although the car is flood damged, the electricity is working fine!,and the engine got no water at all!, when i had plugged it with a computer scan; the computer showed two error codes: p0a7a, p0a18.

i had searched the entire web and i got nothing at all! anyone could help? please! :D big thanks in advance!.

You'll should buy the workshop manual for a project like this.

p0a7a = "Generator inverter performance"
p0a18... I can't find in my 2009 manual.

I'm going to assume that your HV battery could be too low to start.

Was the scanner a Ford scanner that can read hybrid equipment? The P0A18 DTC is "Motor Torque Sensor Circuit Range/Performance.

Causes - Traction Motor AC (TMAC) circuit open

TMAC circuit shorted to power or ground

Sounds like you have possible serious eCVT internal problems. Your Transmission Control Module can be reprogrammed to see if this solves the problem but the internal repair of the eCVT is not possible according to the manual.

Ooo doesn't sound good, My input would have been to check the fuel relay in the pass kick panel. Altho it was 'flood' damaged, maybe it got a sudden momentum jolt. I saw a FEH for sale localy once that said wouldn't start, I told them that, they clicked it and got it to do more, but still wouldn't turn over.

Even if you fix it, can you leagly register & re-insure in your state?

Maybe you can find another good deal on a totaled one and start swapping parts?

Sounds like water entered the intake while the engine was running. Water does not compress like fuel air mixture so something had to give like the piston, rod or crank shaft. Serious damage sorry to say and a complete rebuilt engine may be needed instead of repairing that one. Then there is the eCVT that might have damage also. It may be time for looking for another '08 FEH with totaled body damage for the engine/eCVT complete change out still connected to reduce labor cost. In other words the eCVT and engine can be taken out together and put back in without separating.

Good Luck and let us know what you do.

Hello OP, what was the outcome on your flooded FEH? I recently got mine flooded. I was wondering if your FEH was able to be recovered.

@soom-1 hasn't logged in here for over 10 years. You might want to email him to possibly get a response.
