The PTU Fuse Drill

Re: The PTU Fuse Drill
With any luck at all the new Explorer will be discontinued, relabel it, call it, the Edge/EXD, before hitting the streets. It quite clearly does not deserve, warrant, the Explorer name/label.

Re: The PTU Fuse Drill
I was saying that simply pulling a fuse to deactivate some electronics was NOT going to give anyone measureably higher MPG.
Those who made such claims probably subconciously got better MPG for other reasons, such as driving more gently, which is very difficult to quantify.
They got the result they wanted to see. What they expected to see. AKA "Placebo Effect".
I'd be happy to accept written apologies for your harsh attacks since you don't have my phone number.

Re: The PTU Fuse Drill
AKA "Placebo Effect"??
There was a discussion way back here about using different kinds/brands of sparkplugs and how they effected MPG. One stated that a certain sparkplug resulted in a .3MPG difference.
Having owned a '73 Blazer with full time 4WD that got about 9MPG in that mode. In locked 4WD mode, you could almost see the gas guage move on a 30 gal. tank.

Re: The PTU Fuse Drill
"..in locked 4WD mode.."
Wouldn't that, of necessaty, either mean off-road or seriously adverse, slippery, roadbed surface...?
Methinks the only comparitive baseline would be a full-time 4WD vs a 2WD mode such as can be done with some of the Jeep 4WD/4X4 or locking hub systems. While I never found full-time 4WD to be advantageous either way, tractive or non-tractive surfaces, I did try full-time mode enough to testify that the FE was worse than in simple 2WD(RWD) mode.

Re: The PTU Fuse Drill
( Except the correct word is affected.)
Effect = the result of
Affect = to influence

Re: The PTU Fuse Drill
BTW, I'm not saying spark plugs have no affect on MPG.
I'm saying you can't prove a 0.3 MPG change out in the real world.
The deviation is too small to measure outside of laboratory conditions.

Did using the wrong word cause you misunderstand?
