2010 Chevy Silverado Hybrid
As i was driving home from work this morning i noticed my truck was getting low fuel mileage while driving on a 35 mph road. When i stopped at a light autostop never engaged. As i kept driving i checked the display and it didnt look like the hybrid battery was charging. Then i stopped to get fuel and it usually shows that i have 443 miles on a full tank but i showed 357 miles on a fuel tank. My truck is 6 years old and has 57k miles on it. Any idea what they problem could be? Ive already scheduled a appointment with a Chevy dealer but they couldn't tell me if it was warranty work or not.Other than that i have no engine warnings and it seems to be functioning normally

Re: 2010 Chevy Silverado Hybrid
Ummm so i fixed it haha. Guess the 8 degree weather and my 2 mile drive to work took its toll it my hybrid battery. I took it on a 30 minute drive and when i pulled off the interstate and stopped at the light autostop engaged. And the battery was taking a charge again. Fuel max fuel mileage went back up to 443 on a full tank after i topped it off again.Lesson Learned i suppose i need to drive it more.

Drive it and be familiar with it.

Re: 2010 Chevy Silverado Hybrid
In very cold weather it can take up to an hour to warm the battery up enough for Auto-Stop

Re: 2010 Chevy Silverado Hybrid
The Traction Battery(the 300V one) does not like very hot or very cold temperatures, it can take a very long time on hot or cold days for it to start acting "normally".
BTW, I've noticed after 7 years and 140K miles that there is no real "normal", the Hybrid system always seems to have a mind of it's own. |
I had no problems at 195k miles.
