AFM Issue
I was thinking about the AFM problem the other day and realized I did not know if applied to my truck. Specifically is the AFM problem an issue with BOTH the LFA (07-09) and LZ1 (10-13) engines or is the problem confined to just one of them? I know there is not much difference between the two, but I would think they had a handle on the issue by the time the LZ1 came around.

Re: AFM Issue
The LFA "early" engine had many more issues.

Good to know.

Re: AFM Issue
Actually most AFM had the "problem". The hybrid spends much more time in V4 than the conventional.
On a flat interstate wit ha slight tail wind... see if you can stay V4 for 5 minutes. Then ask your buds without hybrids if they can do it for 50 seconds. |

I do a lot of highspeed freeway driving, but never use cruise control. Generally the revs are moving around alot and I don't sit in V4 for very long. Any ideas for prevention? I was thinking of asking my dealer to install the shield - however I don't know how involved that is (and if the 2011 engines already had it). |
Re: AFM Issue
The newer engines are much better. Regular oil changes.

I have 192k miles in my escalade hybrid. I did not realize how I got V4 while cruising while towing the GLK350 or Honda Pilot.
