The size does make a big difference. The Bridgestone Dueler Alenza is an excellent tire on the Tahoe/Yukon/Escalade in the 20" and 22" , not so much in the 18" size. I don't fault the tire, a old timer mechanic at my local Chevy dealer told me that the tahoe/yukon/escalade always has issues with 17" & 18 " wheels/tires and very rarely has problems with 20" or 22", his conclusion is that GM designed (or "sprung" in his words) the tahoe/yukon/escalade for the larger tire/wheels and added the smaller ones to the line up after the original design, his opinion is the vehicle is set up to sit on the larger/heavier set up more squarely. That makes sense because the smaller ones always wear out the edges of the tires.

The other issue with the 18" stock size is it was a very unusual size to start with and now there are very few if any vehicles still being manufactured that use this size.

I switched to 255 70R18 Michelins, a far more common size since it is used on Toyota pickups. The size difference between the two is indiscernible and doesn't affect the speedometer/odometer at all(I have checked with two GPS units)

Continental is what I bought .looks good to soon to say much else . $878 with a 100 mail in brings it to $788 which is under budget by quita bit so I'm happy so far.

The LX20's with ecotech are supposed to give you 5% more mileage. On tirerack they have a very good rating and a 70K mile warranty and are $716 for 4 tires shipped.
