2003 auto stop question

I noticed my 2003 HCH does not auto stop when all my climate controls are in auto posistion and the ECON button is lit when the tempature outside is around or below freezing tempatures. is this normal? if i shut off my climate control knobs it will go into auto stop mode at or around freezing temps

I believe it was designed that way. Mine does the same.

Mine does all kinds of stupid stuff like this. I never use defrost anymore because it turns off the auto-stop. They have thought about this stuff WAY too much and over-controlled too many things.

I agree, let us make the decisions not the car.

Maybe, although letting the general population decide is how we ended up *needing* hybrid tech instead of just having it.

hmm.. i should have checked out this thread before... with the temperatures up around 34C here in London and the aircon on, i was worried my autostop feature was broken... took a while to figure out its related to the climate control.

Re: 2003 auto stop question

I stumbled on to something around the web which stated the conditions where Auto Stop would come on. I remember the car has to be warmed up, the IMA batteries not too low and the AC not on (including of course for defrost). Makes sense really, since it uses IMA batteries juice for any electrical accessory you do have running, the AC would be a major drain.
