Help with P1600 and P1433
 

Hello this is my first hybrid and im loving the car so far, I know that these codes mean that my battery is on its way out. The car seems to run and drive fine and maintains 48mpg. I can see on the gauge that the battery does charge and assist as normal but during city driving the battery will get real low. The car does have 230k so im expecting to do some maintenance. Anyone know how much longer I can drive the car before without issues? Also in NY we have emmisions testing im not sure if the car would pass if the CEL is on for manufacturer codes or not?

I think if you clear the code and can get it to stay off long enough to get it inspected you shouldn't have a problem. I believe a lot of states will allow one not ready reading and still allow a vehicle to pass. You might want to check that out with the NY registry of motor vehicles or what ever they call it in NY.
