2008 Nav DVD - upgrade, when?

HCH-II

Does anyone know (or can guess) when the next version of the Nav DVD will be coming out?

Also, does the SW get upgraded on a new DVD?

Thanks

6.72c is out now. It's the release they are currently on with the 2009 Civics and Fits, I believe. You can click a link from your Honda Owners link site to see this.

The software CAN also be upgraded. For instance, in the original 2006 release I had, I had the choice of a woman's OR a man's voice. In my upgraded DVD (6.62a), there is only a woman's voice. (I suspect they did this to reclaim the space used for recording the man's voice.) They may choose to "upgrade" or change other aspects about how the software works, how the screens look exactly, etc. I don't think there are usually any major changes though, other than the (somewhat) newer maps and POI.

Don't expect miracles with an upgrade. Everything is still not truly "up-to-date." There's a neighborhood not far from where I live that's been in existence for over 10 years, yet not a single road in the sub-division is on the map.

I waited about 18 months before upgrading. There were several interim upgrades along the way that I passed over.

I just received 6.72c for my '06. It was released the first week of January and is listed as the update for the '09 model year. If you order it in the first 3 months, Alpine is giving you a $45 discount.

So far, no real problems with 6.72c. I was finding my orginial DVD was wrong more and more as old stores closed and new ones opened. When I received it, I checked that a couple of recent stores that had opened in the last year were listed, and they were!

One change from the '06 DVD is that when you start the car you get a beep when the OK button appears (vs. no beep) and, if you do nothing, you get another beep when it times out to the clock screen. Everything else was fine and it remembered all my settings and data.

Also, I don't think it updated anything besides the NAV software and data. I assume this because I was able to listen to the radio the entire time it was updating (about 5-10 minutes) and it never interrupted the radio. I suspect if the SW for the radio was updated, it would have interrupted the radio at some point to do it.

Here's the ordering page: https://store.alpine-usa.com/Hondadv.../naviorder.php

Does anyone know if the new disc fixes the daylight saving time error? My '06 still thinks DST starts the first Sunday in April and ends the last Sunday in October.

DST fix in new release?

Yes, the last release (fall 07) introduced the DST fix. The new release also has it.
