haha...i have the same noise. i always assumed it was the transition from regenerative to mechanical braking, since i only hear it when i brake hard.

Re: Braking Noise
I got my Civic one week ago and noticed the braking "fart" one day later. I have had two technicians notice the problem also: both times they were stunned, never having heard it before in any Honda and not knowing what it was. My car is in the shop overnight (only 240 km!) awaiting a part that the Service Manager told me was $3100 Canadian and a lengthy installation. He spent over an hour today talking with several Honda specialists and this part replacement was their best advice. I'll let everyone know how it plays out.
From the sounds of all who are replying to this posting, it appears that this has either caught the Honda engineers off guard, or it is something normal that isn't quite normal.
Stay tuned

Re: Braking Noise
I got my car back from the dealer after a two day layover. The Service Manager spent a lot of time with people yesterday and it was determined that the whole Master Cylinder component was faulty. It was put in today during a very lengthy procedure. Turns out this part is huge, near 3 feet long and costs $3100 Canadian. I don't have the actual names and figures as Honda Canada hasn't settled everything with the dealer. I will update everyone once I do. So far neither the Service Techs nor I have re-experienced the "fart." I am planning on taking it for a longer test drive on Sunday and will report back.

Re: Braking Noise
I got my car on Friday (9/8/06) so I have only had it 6 days and I thought I heard the brake 'farting' noise the other day but couldn't be sure because my radio was on but definatly heard it today while my radio was off. Should I not worry about it? I see that alot of people are experiencing it, is it normal?

Re: Braking Noise
Hi Morgan,
You may want to make an inquiry with your dealer. Mine was very supportive even though it was a "minor" noise and they sure went out of their way to solve it -- $3000+ part and and several hours labour. I'm not sure if your dealership is that committed to customer satisfaction, but I was told that it was covered by Honda's warranty. Your call.

Re: Braking Noise
Cam - Has your problem definitely been solved? If so, could you give details on the parts/service necessary to fix it? I want to be prepared to give this info to my dealer - so they know exactly what the repair involves.
Koba - I'm interested if you ever got your car fixed too, and was it the same repair that Cam had done?

Re: Braking Noise
Add me to the list of people who have unusual noises coming from the brake pedal. I noticed it about 2 weeks ago (around 8000 miles) and just came accross this thread. I'd be interested to see if that repair solved it.

Re: Braking Noise
Hi Aneil,
I've had it checked out by Honda technicians, including the Service Manager, and all say that the car is safe and not to be concerned with braking concerns (which was what led me into this in the first place!)
