Knocking (detonation), HCH II, 2009

Hi folks,
Recently I have noticed that engine knocks during light acceleration. If I press accelerator and ASST starts help - knocking stops. Some info:
- mileage 195 K km
- used gazoline 93
- engine oil IDEMITSU 0W20
- CVT oil need to be changed after 10K km
- it is time to adjust valves
- spark plugs were not changed. Staring is ok and engine works fine in low RPM.

Please, advise.
BR, Vugar

If you're on the original plugs, change them NOW.

EGR valve or clogged EGR port. EGR port cleaning:

Doesn't take very long.

My symptoms were light "pinging" at cruise or very light acceleration. Added power or power removal eliminated the pinging. 2 of 4 of my ports were plugged.

It takes surprisingly little time. I used compressed air to blow everything out, and it was sufficient to dislodge the vast majority of it.

I have got the same symptoms. I will buy carb cleaner these days and will clean it on Saturday.
Question:is it needed to disassemble the EGR valve to do deep clening inside?

I actually did nothing to the EGR valve. Since the ports were plugged, I didn't pursue it. There's a trouble code associated with EGR function. Since I didn't get that code, I didn't do anything with it.

I don't feel good about hosing things down with carb cleaner. You're basically dumping a ton of it into the intake. Simple mechanical removal is more than sufficient.

I did it. Simple removed tons of **** from EGR port. That was really easy.
Another question: how this valve works? If I remove the valve, I see two hoses there. One is square window, another is round. Is this round valve itself? Does it move inside if I push to it? Mine not, it stuck. Is it normal?

I can't say for sure. I fiddled with it many months ago, and I don't recall being able to move it.

How many of your ports were actually clogged?

Whoa. I think yours was worse than mine with 220K miles.
