Re: wimpy horn?
Here's one from JC Whitney:
http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/P...002595/c-10101 I was also particularly impressed with the 3-note horn they have that emulates the sound of a wild turkey, but I think that's best saved for something the likes of a Cadillac Cimaron, or a new "Saabaru" mini Saab 92X wagon made by you-know-who. |

Re: wimpy horn?
Picked up a 132db horn at Autozone today. Will put it in Sunday or Monday. May have to pull bumper cover off to install it.

Psyshack : Did you get the high or low note horn? Could you do a brief write-up of your procedure when fisnished.
Thanks and Happy New Year! |

Re: wimpy horn?
I replaced the stock horn on my 97 Civic with a dual-tone air horn a while ago. I hate under-hood horn installs, so I yanked the resonator box out of my Civic and installed the horn in the fender well so it's not visible with the hood popped. Still not as loud as I would have liked, but it's a LOT louder than stock, that's for sure.

The install is done.
The horn: http://www.psyshack.com/horn.jpg http://www.psyshack.com/horn1.jpg Bumper cover removed. Lots of info on the net about this. Very easy! http://www.psyshack.com/bumpoff1.jpg A old honda Dream would be proud of this. Horn lower right. http://www.psyshack.com/bumpoff.jpg Different connections. Used silicone grease on all connections and splice. Heat shrink and Scotch 33 tape. http://www.psyshack.com/con1.jpg http://www.psyshack.com/con2.jpg http://www.psyshack.com/con3.jpg Installed http://www.psyshack.com/installed.jpg Horns toot. Drivers window down. Engine off. http://www.psyshack.com/BEFORE.AVI Horns growl after install. Drivers window up. Engine running. Had to do it this way cause the horn was distorting the mic in the camera. ;) http://www.psyshack.com/AFTER.AVI It was worth the time and $16.00. :shade: |
