2000 Honda Insight going up for sale soon in Austin, Texas - 145K
 

Hi everyone,

In the next couple of weeks, I will be putting my 2000 Honda Insight up for sale in Austin, Texas. I love it but am moving soon and have a toddler, which makes it impractical for my current needs.

The car has 145K miles with a lifetime of 44mpg -- evidently I don't have quite the driving discipline of the high milers on this forum. At 55mph on the highway, the car is currently getting 60mpg in midday heat of summer.

Cosmetically, the car has a couple of issues (peeling paint on the driver side mirror where I got overzealous at the car wash and a scrape on the rear left wheel panel where somebody sideswiped me in a parking lot and drove off.) I can take care of these issues at a local shop (I was recently quoted $500 to fix the two issues above) or leave as is for the next owner.

Hi Mike,
I am wondering if you have sold your car and would be willing to share the purchase price. I have a similar Insight (2001, 160K miles, LMPG 62.2, average of 65.4 mpg over the past 12 months) which I am considering selling. Although I love my car, my desire for a more up-to-date interior with more bells and whistles is finally winning over my love of high mpg. Silly, I know, but what can I say.
I'd love to have an idea of what Insights like mine sell for these days.

Hi Sonja,

The car will be available starting around September 12, so I can't provide any details regarding my experience yet. I would recommend looking at the "completed listings" in eBay. This should give a good way of guaging the current market value, provided that you find vehicles of similar age/history. Good luck.
