2006 Insight Info
I noticed the 2006 Insight page was up at honda.com, for some reason I had thought the 2005 was the last model year, but I'm glad to hear that it will keep on going!

Re: 2006 Insight Info
I went to the local dealer and they didn't even have real brochures for the Insight. Only one page photocopies in black and white! The insight is also in the full line brochure.

Re: 2006 Insight Info
My dealer doesn't even acknowledge the Insight. They have a radio advertisement saying the '06 HCH is Hondas best mileage car. :(

Re: 2006 Insight Info
Rigger, will they even put any on the lot then?

Re: 2006 Insight Info
I think all Insights are now built to order.

Re: 2006 Insight Info
The Insight is considered a 'Halo' car, that is a car that would otherwise have been cancelled due to extremely low popularity. I would imagine Honda likes to be able to top the FE charts with it, so it remains an option until they bring out another small car with an updated hybrid system. Hopefully that will be the Fit.

aw, i like the insight. =( i'd be sad to see it go. i might have gotten one if they had more trunk space.

Re: 2006 Insight Info
It's not history yet, but had a great run as EPA milage champ 1999-2005. That's in part because it's a great hypermiler, but also in part that until this year, the automotive world was not interested in competing. I'm sure what follows will be better.

They still provide great service though and I will (as of right now) buy another car from them. My parents have bought around 6 cars from them in the last 12 years. |
Re: 2006 Insight Info
"Built to order", not that I've heard of. I think many Honda dealers do pretend the car doesn't exist which sort of makes sense since there are so few of them being sold. I read somewhere recently that less than 550 have been sold this year so far (for entire US).
Actually I had another local Honda dealer email me yesterday that he just got a 2006 CVT on the lot. He knows I bought a 2005 in July from another local dealer (he didn't have one in July when I was looking, but he expected his to be delivered at end August). I told him if I bought another one, it'd be a manual as I prefer manuals and they get better mileage. I saw a new (never sold) 2004 for sale in New Jersey - blue, manual that I'm semi-considering. It's relatively cheap to ship to CA and the 2004 qualifies for the carpool lane stickers (for one driver cars) whereas the 2005 does not. Deb |
