How will be the MPG on the new Insight?

new to post here but been reading this forum for some time when I was first looking to get a Civic hybrid, but demand went high enough that I decided to wait.
I see the new Insight is coming in April, does anyone know what would be the MPG for sure, there are some speculations so I wonder of the exact (or close) MPG.

thanks

Re: How will be the MPG on the new Insight?

The official EPA MPG hasn't been released yet. Right now, there are a few rumors. Some say that the new insight will average 42mpg combined city and highway. Others are saying that it will get between 60 and 70 mpg combined. I'm hoping for the later because if Honda really wants a "prius killer", it should get better gas mileage as well as cost less.

I think the official mpg information, as well as the production version of the car, will be released at the Detroit Auto Show in the middle of January.

BTW, I'm hoping to buy the Insight II when it goes on sale.

It will be of a similar size, weight, and shape as the Prius.

It will have VERY SIMILAR MPG to the current Prius.

If it is 1 or 2 MPG higher, that would be great.
Do not expect more than 2 MPG higher than the Prius.

CEO of Honda Motor Corp. said at the Paris Auto Show "The new Insight will have fuel efficiency on PAR with the Civic, but at a reduced cost."

It has the exact same drivetrain as the Civic Hybrid, so it will probably get very similar mileage as the Civic Hybrid. Mid 40s for the average driver.

The Prius is midsize and the Civic is compact car.
The new Insight is even smaller than the Civic to meet the Japanese small car category, less than 1700mm(67inch) width.

the Prius is a mid-size car, really?
I thought it is a compact car, mid-size would be something like a Ford Focus or similar.....

I think they determined that by the cab volune. IE Hatch back and no trunk. To me they feel smallar than a HCH2, but I think they measure very similar. H

Prius: Passenger Volume=96 cu.ft Cargo Volume=16 cu.ft Total=112 cu.ft
HCH2: Passenger Volume=91 cu.ft Cargo Volume=10 cu.ft Total=101 cu.ft

Compact: 100 to 109 cu.ft
Midsize: 110 to 119 cu.ft

Every data are listed on the following paper.

Yes the prius has seats that go down and 11 more cubic, but its not safe to use all those cubic inch. Put the brakes on hard and you will see where all that cargo ends up!!! It is only natural a hatch will have more volume for packing stuff over a sedan. Look at the wheel base ,width and so on, they are basically the same size.H
