We're gone!

just want to say I'll be gone for awhile as we are packing to get the hell out of the way of Rita. We live about 1 mile from Galveston Bay so we are packing as much as the Tahoe, HCH and my sons pick up will hold. I more than likly will be at work (power plant) during this thing so I can still read Greenhybrid but just can't post. Son just came home and said all gas stations in the area had bags over the pumps! Oh well Life goes on. Ya'll take care and I'll catch ya later. Kevin

Re: We're gone!

Hi Texashchman:

___Be careful and do what is right for your family.

___I was just watching the local weather and the weather guy said Rita was a CAT3 just after it bypassed the Keys with the possibility of a CAT 5 as she heads towards Texas … The National Hurricane Center said Rita is only a 2 with 3 likely by tomorrow.

___The latest strike probability includes the entire Texas coast and most of LA. Like anybody needs another hurricane so close to Katrina …

___Good Luck and stay safe.

On it's current path, even Jason, the GH site owner is likely to at least get one heck of a rainstorm. Maybe we'll luck out this time and it will stall out and dissipate while still in the gulf? One can only hope.

Re: We're gone!

As of Tuesday evening, Cat2, fair chance escalation to Katrina severity, too early to predict with any certainty where landfall, expected on Friday, will be.

I wonder if gasoline will spike to $4 a gallon during the pre-landfall speculative frenzy. It will not take much, that is for sure.

Hi Texashchman:

Hurricane Rita Public Advisory

___I know you have been monitoring Rita but she is now a Cat 5 and please tell me that your family has been taken out of harms way for this one. If she strikes dead on anywhere near your plant, I hope the shift manager/engineer has most of the operating crew in one of the more seismic structures you have on site.

___Good Luck and my prayers are with you and your family this coming weekend.

Re: We're gone!

I'm evacuating back home to Orlando tomorrow. It was actually supposed to be Parents' Weekend here at Rice so I think they just want to see me ;) But, seriously, most of the campus is leaving. I have some friends (including my roommate) who are staying to ride it out. The buildings are safe but broken windows and flooding may be a problem. I'll wish them luck.

Re: We're gone!

It's thrusday morning and family is at my inlaws in the town of Rosenberg. House is secured and should be ok, I pray. We are supposed to get relief tonight but getting back to them will be a problem. I think they will keep us as the relief crews probably won't be able to get in for the traffic. It now looks like it will hit Galveston or just east of it. The evacuation is unbelivable roads are clogged and some people are running out of gas. One person called on the radio and going I-10 west went 6 miles in 3 hours. Hope they don't fire me for writting this..lol I want to thank all you wish us well here!! God willing and the creek don't rise we will survive!Kevin
