2012 Camry Hybrid

Re: 2012 Camry Hybrid
I simply wanted a reliable commuter car that gets me from point A to B and gets good gas mileage. This car definitely fits the bill! The extra gadgets would be fun to have but I'd rather save for retirement. That's just me I guess.
No regrets and I love this car.

All good reasons.
Ours will be our touring car in retirement, and thus I think the Camry fits the bill better than the Prius. The Navigation and better sound system are attractive.
Mileage cost might not be. Both better than my current 23 in my Subaru Outback (2003)
What mileage are you getting so far?

Re: 2012 Camry Hybrid
The answer to that is "it depends". My first tank I had a sizeable highway trip in very cold weather (2 degrees F). That tank was 36MPG. Second tank, still in cold weather and one smaller highway trip, was 39MPG. However, in warmer weather, the current trip gauge is reading 45MPG. The last two trips to work, in much warmer temps, the result has been about 50MPG. Have yet to fill the tank to verify the mileage info but I don't expect it to vary much from it.

Re: 2012 Camry Hybrid
I drove an XLE hybrid tonight and was pretty impressed. It is quite a nice car and I like what they have done with the increase in mileage. The ride is a bit stiffer and not as floaty as our 09 so I think Toyota has been listening.

The tank readout mpg usually will be about 1 to 1 1/2 mpg higher than if you calculate it. I have a '07 TCH and found it's much better using the tank read to compare tanks to weather vs my methods of driving.
I also moved the scan gauge from my trade-in Corolla to the new '07 TCH. It helped me over two years to achieve top gas mileage with the new hybrid. My guess is these new 2012's will be much easier to achieve high mpg numbers due to better programming and the extra power from the engine.
I do have a new XLE hybrid on order. I prefer the 17" wheels and tires, nice interior, fog lights and especially it coming with alloy wheels. I forget other factory goodies might be on the XLE.

Re: 2012 Camry Hybrid
I just purchased one that sounds exactly like yours!!
Well, I've had my new Camry Hybrid for two weeks now. Comparing it to my 2007 Hybrid ...all I can say is WOW! On a 16 mile in town drive I averaged 51.9 mpg. On the highway, getting around 46mpg. The car is extremely quiet and no longer has the shutter/shake in the transition phase. The leather seats are more comfortable and the backup camera is pretty slick.
Basically, Toyota hit a home run with this car.
2012 Camry Hybrid XLE. White with Ivory interior. Sunroof, convenience package, Entune radio, etc.
Note: Wish I could figure out how to attach pictures.

Even my 2001 Porsche 911/996 C4 gets ~30 "touring".

Re: 2012 Camry Hybrid
I think long distance driving is ONE of my 2007's strong point.. Just finished a 2600 mile trip from KC to Philly and back. Averaged 40+ for the trip at 70+ mph. Stayed ~ 5 over speed limit for the whole trip without a single burp. Car has 62k, was thinking about a 2012 but can't justify it to wife.
