Timing Belt or Chain
 

Does the TCH have a timing belt or timing chain? If it has a belt, I assume the recommendation is to change it at 50,000 miles?

I think it is belt (someone correct me), and I think replacement is around 100K miles (again correct me; I don't have the manual with me).

According to the 2007 repair manual...unless I am reading it all wrong....it is a chain.

Actually 2 chains upper and lower. the only belt on this rig is for the water pump.:shade: :shade: :shade:

Toyota started using chains with the VVT engines back around 2002.

Thanks all. My 2005 Vibe had a chain, Toyota drivetrain. Nice little car, traded it for the TCH.

I brought in my 2007 Camry Hybrid today 90K for the timimg "chain". The dealer told me it's non-servicable, and doesn't need to be replaced. So They hit me up for the 90k maintenance check:angel:, (cost almost the same)
