Re: How To Enter Destinations While In Motion - Prius, RX 400h, Highlander Hybrid

Yes it works - 2004-2005 but not in the 2006 Prius. Also works in the 2007 Camry Hybrid which I find very surprising. A friend of mine just got one. Going out to the parking lot later to have a look. I wonder if it has the '04/'05 Prius screen or the '06 (higher res) screen. Seems to me if they moved the 'easter egg' so new Prii owners couldn't possibly damage themselves, they would have hidden it elsewhere on ALL new models.

Update: The Camry touch screen seems to have the same resolution as the '06 Prius. It tilts forward (motorized) for access to the CD changer behind it. He also has a Honda Ridgeline that has a similarly designed screen. He said before it rotates out, it displays something like "Do not place cups or burgers on display" :) It does look like it would make a good litle table. By his comparison, the Toyota NAV is much better than the Honda Nav.

The Camry screen seems smaller than the Prius screen, but I'm not sure of that, it might just be a visual thing with the different surround. I would have to measure both. One thing I noticed is that the consumption screen is in 1 minute blocks, tops out at 60 MPG and the data STAYS when you shut the car down. When you restart, you have the last half hour of history (in a different color) Seems cool.

I still think it is unfortunate that it has a standard console mounted stepped gearshift. Maybe Toyota figured the average Camry buyer couldn't handle the 'by wire' joystick. No rear view camera either.

Yep. I noticed that happening on my '06. I thought it a safety feature, and gave up trying.

There's enough distractions in that cockpit without trying to multitask.

I can also confirm that the override works in the 2006 Highlander.
