Programming a new key for toyota prius 2013
 

Hi All,

I recently lost a key, but fortunately had a spare one at home. I wanted to change the smart key code for the spare one I have now so as to have peace of mind as I don't know who has one of the keys to my car.

Is there a way I can do it myself or get it done for less price? I checked at one of the Toyota dealer and they quoted $150 just for programming a new key.

I would really appreciate if someone can help me to program it myself.

Any good locksmith can do that for you. Most late model cars require two original keys to reprogram the car. That prevents someone with one key (valet for example) from programing a replacement key but locksmiths and the dealer can get around those limitations.

Nowadays a local locksmith also can make and program these new car keys and locksmith pricing is fair too.
