Chrysler Makes Big SUVs Greener.

General Motors was the first to hit the streets with a full
size sport utility hybrid, but Chrysler countered with their Aspen and the Dodge Durango.  Initially, there was no clear leader in the
class, but with the 2009 models, Chrysler has pulled ahead in the segment,
thanks for the fact that the two-mode hybrid system coupled with the 5.7L Hemi
engine makes a whopping 400 horsepower and 380lb-ft of torque.  This makes the Durango
and Aspen the
most powerful full-size SUVs, and with their new EPA hybrid mileage ratings of
20 in the city and 22 on the highway, the Chryslers Utes are the most efficient
AND the most powerful.

While 20/22 isn’t exactly what many people consider great
mileage, considering the seating capacity, cargo space, and 6,000lb towing
capacity, these hybrids offer better fuel economy than many quarter ton pickup
trucks, more interior space, and similar towing abilities.  So, if you have the need for a larger
vehicle, but you also want to conserve as much fuel as possible, the Dodge
Durango and Chrysler Aspen offer the most power and the best EPA rating of any
large SUV, and if you need one more good reason, the Chrysler SUVs are priced
around $8,000 less than the GM competition.
