Default Engine Block Heater

I have seen the engine block heater listed as a Canadian option. Does anybody know if it is available in the USA? If not would you know of a source in Canada that I can order one from? Thanks for your help.

I called my dealer today and they said after several minutes of searching through their books, etc., that there doesn't appear to be an engine block heater available for the 2007 model...so will earlier versions work? Are there 3rd party ones to get (not the $1600 option) or should I just put a heating pad on my engine each night? Getting one of the remote starts seems like a waste of gas as it has to use gas to warm the car...have already had to many frosty mornings and have to sit for 5 minutes to wait for the windshield to clear and my mileage is suffering.

It is available in Canada. Go to this Toyota Canada configurator, pick the Camry Hybrid, then look in the right column for dealer installed options. Click on block heater. A picture is shown along with an audible description when you click on more info. So it available North of us.

If you go through the process on configuring and pricing a Camry on the Toyota Canada website you'll find that the blockheater is listed as mandatory item in the quote and costs $178.

It's listed in with all the fees and levy's.

See attached PDF document.

belbe — Why don't you try rotating the temperature control to maximum. This will switch ECO mode "off" automatically, and switch "on" electric heat for the interior of the vehicle, until the ICE gets up to temperature. This should defrost your windshield much more quickly than waiting for the ICE to warm up. It's not as environmentally friendly, but might be what you need.

I just looked again and if you choose Nunavit which is a territory that is most north, then the block heater is mandatory. Not mandatory i any part of canada that is adjacent to The lower 48 states! Sorry

I don't know what province you entered in the request for a price quote but I live in Ottawa, Ontario where the temperature gets down to -25 F on a regualr basis and Toyota.Ca does NOT list the block he....ater as a mandatory option. I know a few people who have the TCH in Canada and none have toe block heater installed. that is not to say it's a bad idea but how and where did it become mandatory? Maybe in The North West territories or some such northern part of Canada but not in Ontario.

There is more to Canada than Ontario.

If you are referring to my post regarding the mandatory block heater. Then I'm afraid this statement "Not mandatory i any part of Canada that is adjacent to The lower 48 states! Sorry" is wrong.

Take a good look at the PDF file again. On the left hand side of page one it states "Taxes and levies shown are applicable in Alberta" and then check in the section of the quote were they list the Administration Fee, Documentation Charge Freight and Delivery, etc you'll find "Block Heater -- Mandatory $178.00"

The last time I looked Alberta was adjacent to the lower 48.

I know of two people here in Calgary that have TCH's,a friend and myself and both of us have block heaters, neither one of us asked for one the vehicle came with it installed.
