Default Grand Tourismo 4

My sister just rented the game Grand Tourismo 4 for Playstation 2 and was excited to see the Prius was on the list of cars one cold "race." Of course, those developers didn't bother double-checking their car stats. It lists the Prius as 75 hp. I think not!

Very true Jason, the version in the game should be 145hp.

Hey, it's Gran Turismo, not Grand! FWIW, I love the game. Can't say that I mind too much if they get the power wrong on the FWD cars since everybody knows the RWD / AWD cars are where the action's at anyway.

Well for what it's worth, the batteries wouldn't last very long in a road race, so they're basically showing the power it makes on the engine alone. My game is saved in the middle of an enduro race, so I can't jump out of that to buy a Prius and try it out, but I'm curious to see if they've simulated the CVT somehow. Every other car in the game has a conventional transmission, so if they've given the Prius a CVT, that would be pretty cool.

Toche' Jason, but you're talking of the regular version of the Prius, and as AZ said, the battery is useless after a lap on the track. The racing version of the Prius w/ different cams has 145hp from the I.C.E. (plus whatever the MG2 provides before the battery is drained.

Hey now, you can't just go and make reference to the Prius racecar without a link to the story about it!

At any rate, I bought a Prius and they really spent a lot of time on it! Every car in the game has the exact same gauge cluster; same tach, speedo, gear indicator, etc. Toyota must have ponied up some money for this one, because they modeled a custom gauge cluster complete with the synergy drive power indicator, FCD, battery gauge, and total fuel consumed. It also does have a CVT, although the CVT doesn't reach peak RPM until 60mph or so, but still. I'm impressed!
