I save enough on my monthly gas bill to more then pay the difference in my payment, and no one has commented except to say, " nice car ".

Not trying to start a fight here, rlharv2.. just really would like to how you pull that off? I spend about $80.00 in gas per month with my Frontier..

You're telling me you save more than the $400.00 new car note per month in gas??? Please explain..I would love to be able to justify buying one! LOL I just can't get the math to work..

My other big concern is... these vehicles have a "time limit" use on them.. i.e. the batteries.. If I knew the vehicle's battery would last as long as I think my Frontier can (it has been running great for the last 8 years *KNOCK ON WOOD* I hope to drive it for many more years to come.. 10 - 12+???) I would feel so much better buying one [Prius].. but the fact is as soon as you buy one the battery starts to deplete.. and yes I understand that all vehicle's days are eventually numbered... but with the Prius the days are advertised by the manufacturer.. "the battery will last about 5 years or 100K miles" after that..go buy another Prius.. and thanks for playing..

I welcome your comments...

The Frontier runs fine.... why do I want the Prius??

Also... any of you guys out there getting any flack about the "feminine" stigma attached to the prius? Your friends questioning your manhood since you own one?
I have a 2004 Prius and even in the Midwest snow and ice, I can get 30-something mpg. I can understand your reluctance over having a monthly note to pay. I have yet to replace the traction batteries, as I am only at 40k miles so far.

As far as 'feminine' stigma... I am a pretty butch gay guy, and no one has bothered me about my 'girlie' car. Now, get someone in a Rav4 and watch the 'cute couple' comments fly

Well my wife has been giving me a real hard time about the "feminine stuff". So I guess the Rav4 is worse, eh? LOL

I don't see too many hybrids at all down here in Louisiana, again.. it's because - according to my wife- we don't care about the environment, or gas savings-.

I guess I'm just gonna drive my Frontier.. and let this itch pass... thanks for all the comments guys...

No, I wish I saved that much. My reply to your post said, "the difference", meaning the diference in my old payment on my Chevy Colorado 5 cyl truck. I drive 110mi 5 days a week, spending on gas used to be $35 to $45 fill-up twice a week. Now I spend less then 40 for the week. Rick

Well in Louisiana the gas prices are low enough it's not a big hit... here in NY, like CA, our gas prices never go down, right now $2.85 is the average price per gallon
So a Hybrid makes sense.

Hey Bob.. the prices are not much better here in the south.. we are currently around $2.60 and when the summer comes....

But again.. hard to justify.. $60.00 per month in gas - currently with Frontier.. vs $400.00 (new car note) + $25.00 ($425.00) or whatever in gas with the Prius..

I just bought an out of state in MD new 2010 Toyota Prius IV Winter Gray Metallic/Dark Gray Leather interior with NAV and floor/cargo carpet and 7 miles in ODO 12 miles at delivery (after test driven it) for $27,482.00 as follows:

MSRP: $30,030.00
Sale Price: $27,482.00
Temp Tag: $19.00
No tax since the value of my trade-in was more than the sale and will be getting a refund check back...
Extended Warranty: 7y/100k/0d for $1,400 (not sure if this is a great deal though)

I got also a great deal with my trade-in 2010 4Runner LTD 4WD with NAV and 10,000 miles in ODO that got $5,000 more than in NC in CarMax and I decided to travel 10 hours both ways in MD...

I am also saving $99.00 as I will be doing the final paper work in DMV. Fantastic smooth experience with the delearship is FitzMall in Gaithersburg, MD dealership...

Prius just turned a little over 300 miles and the computer average shows 53.0 MPG... wow, what an amazing vehicle...
