Default Prius Battery meter

Hi I have just purchased a 2006 Prius with 68K miles, I have only driven the car for about 100 miles but have noticed that the on the touch screen the main battery does not seem to go up to full, leaving one line un-charged. Is this normal?
The reason I ask is I also have I 2003 civic Ima which quite often goes to full charge.
The Prius electrics and battery are covered by warranty to 100K so if there is a problem i can take it them to be sorted, but i dont want to go to the garage and look stupid if this is how it should be.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Steve,

The "Battery Meter" is seldom at the top or at the bottom. The top corresponds to the battery is at about 80% capacity (State Of Charge - SOC). The Bottom corresponds to about 40% SOC. Your Prius tries to keep the battery at around 60% for maximum life. The 2004-2009 Prius has a very good record of long lived traction batteries (The little 12v is iffy). My 2004 Prius is at 178,000 miles and no serious problems to date.

I do suggest that you consider draining and refilling the ATF (only use Toyota Type WS - about a gallon). My dealer does it for about $100.

Good guess.

Your Prius has a Power Transfer Device that is a simple set of planetary gears which couple the Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) with the two Motor-Generators (MG). Under computer (An ECU - Electronic Control Unit) control it plays the role of an automatic transmission.

Note that there is no reverse gear. Your Prius just runs one of the MGs backwards to go in reverse.
