Default Seat Comfort

Are the seats comfortable in the Prius? They bottom part does not adjust up or down. In my Lexus, it did. Has this been a problem for anyone and has anyone found a solution, such as installing a different seat or certain cushions?

The reason I'm asking is that many cars cut off the circulation in my legs. If the lower part of the seat does not adjust forward or tilt down, that sometimes becomes a problem.

I think the seats are great, and all passengers so far have agreed. (Even the ones with chronic back problems.)

I've got a 2005, and I'm very pleased with the comfort. I added leather upholstery at the time of delivery, but I doubt the leather affected the basic contours, padding, etc. Previous vehicle was a Silverado LT, which was without a doubt the most comfortable in my experience, including Cadillacs, BMWs, and Mercedes.

I love EVERYTHING about my '05 Prius, but, I wish the seats were a bit more plush. I don't know if it has to do w/ my body type (5'2" 90lbs) but I have found my 96 Jeep Cherokee and my mother's 03 Matrix to be noticeably more comfortable than the Prius, but only on long trips. I've had my Prius for 5 months now, so I am hoping it will be like when you break your shoes in, not so comfy at first, then much better as you were them in. The rest of the time I'm just as comfortable as when I was in my old Jeep.

You could try Googling Recaro, the best-known custom seat manufacturer, and see if they make a Prius seat. If they do, they could probably refer you to an installer; won't be cheap, but if they're available anywhere, they'll probably be availabale in LA. One problem will be that the seat is much more than a seat in the Prius -- lots of key components are part of the seat.

You got me wondering also; if you Google "recaro seat Prius" you'll find that a bunch of folks have done it, with references to where it was done. I'm not pushing Recaro, but it's a place to start.
