What did you pay for your Prius?

Re: What did you pay for your Prius?
I would call it "thanks!" Once someone has bought a Prius, sharing the price lets those in the market have an idea of what can be achieved. We have transitioned from a seller's market to a buyer's market and I for one am thankful.
We're seeing discounts that are as much as the short-supply mark-ups used to be. I'm just glad folks are sharing their success because it gives new shoppers an idea of what the 'fair market value' has become.

Re: What did you pay for your Prius?
I think much of the "discounts" we are seeing now is simply the dealers taking up the slack resulting from the "loss" of the tax credit. The high demand in our area (I had to wait 3.5 months to get my 2006 Prius) I think was directly attributable to the deadline attached to the tax credit. Now that the full tax credit has been reduced in half (and it may even be less at this point - I haven't checked recently) I think demand softened a bit and the dealers are providing some "grease."
Also, you may want to check with some dealers but I know the ones near me indicated the hot seller after September has been the new FJ Cruiser. They can't keep them in stock and that may have also cut into some of the Prius' sales activity - Americans just can't pull themselves away from SUV type vehicles.

Anybody looking at a Prius will not be looking at the FJ.
It is true the FJ is selling like hotcakes, but they are taking sales from the 4runner and the jeep, and other similar vehicles. The hybrids are taking a hit in sales due to the tax credit and the low fuel prices. People only have a memory of a couple months. Once the price starts to climb again, the hybrid sales will take off again.
