RE: Honda Insight: Code P1446
My 2000 Honda Insight's IMA warning light has come on -- and stayed that way ...
The IMA battery was replaced in 2006 (under warranty). I have run over 233,000 miles thus far, which puts my car outside of warranty coverage.
I took it to my local Honda dealer, and it diagnosed as a P1446, which, as I understand, has to do with circuitry and specifically, the cooling fan.
Under Honda policy, local mechanics cannot work on the battery, so I would have to purchase a new battery pack.
The cooling fan should be replaceable.
Can anyone confirm code P1446?
Has anyone replaced the IMA battery cooling fan?
Thanks,
Richard Alford

Re: Honda Insight: Code P1446
Dear OgreGev,
You are absolutely correct;thanks for the advice! It was time to let my Insight go, and rather than spend more to have the battery (and transmission) repaired, I was able to trade it when I purchased my 2010 Honda Fit, with which I am really pleased, though I miss the high mpg (currently, my Fit is getting 39.6 mpg). BTW, battery repair is a viable option for anyone and I would recommend dealing with Hybrid-Battery-Repair!
