Default 06 vs 07 Civic II?

Hi there! I'm a young guy whos family is looking into buying a Honda Civic Hybrid. However, I've read in a couple places that there is no difference between the 06 and the 07 Civic II model. If that is the case, then it seems there's little reason to justify the extra cost of the 07 when the 06s will be on sale at the end of the year. Let me know if I'm missing anything....

The '07 has the correct "scan" function on the steering wheel with Nav models (the '06 non-Hybrid can do this by holding the Channel + button for a few seconds and scanning the radio but the Hybrid can not). I hear now that the '07 Hybrid CAN do this again. Agreed, not too many differences. The biggest change was from the previous version to this version with the car body, dash layout, CVT tranny, GPS, etc. I don't know of other differences yet.

I've heard that the radio is truely XM ready on the 2007 (that is, it doesn't require the extra parts installed as the 2006 does).

If it were me, I'd buy a 2006. And I'd check Ebay.

It sounds like the changes are fairly small then... We probably wouldn't go for the nav model anyway and the scanning thing is probably moot since we mainly use presets.

Seems like the 06 hybrid is the winner... the dealership guy was raving in vagueries about how the 07 was "so much better" but I think I know better... anything else to keep in mind when buying a new hybrid civic 06 from a dealer? No hybrid experience here....

For non Navi models there is NO DIFFERENCE! for Navi equipped models the 2 notations previously listed in this thraed are correct. The would be XM equipped (Navi models only) and that the seek function operates from the steering wheel.

You should ask this dealer to list the differences. I'm curious about what he'll come up with!

You folks failed to mention the kicker around $300 increase in non nav and $700 or so for the nav model!

The dude that sold me my 07(ordered months ago) told me that the increased cost was due to the included XM and subwoofer standard. But there is no subwoofer in the car. bummer

Subwoofer? Wow, that would be an odd standard in a civic hybrid. Anyhow though, I'm going to confront the dealership guy for a straight answer and see what he says... wait a minute - straight answer? Who am I kidding?

Well, now it just seems a matter of when and where to buy. Someone mentioned eBay, but I'm a little leery... anyway I'll post an update when I find out more from the dealership.

I've bought and sold cars on Ebay with great success. If you'd like some information, private message me.
