Anyone know why Mobil 1 discontinued 0w20 in the first place?

0w20 is probably not as "marketable" as a 5w20 grade. Very few cars call for 0w20. Even 5w20 doesn't get as much "space" on the shelf as do other more common weights of oil, but certainly more than 0w20.

Perhaps Pennzoil's new Platinum Hybrid 0w20 will turn things around. For me, I'll keep stocking up on Mobil 1 0w20 until our local NAPA can't get it anymore.

There were also rumors that service departments were denying warranty to cars that used 0w-20 when the manual only specified 5w-20. (On the container, Mobil 1 recommends it for certain Ford and Honda cars like normal Civics which use 5w-20).

EDIT: pluralisation

I would love to see my Honda service department deny a warranty claim because I used 0w20 like it says on the oil cap.

Quick question. How many quarts are in a case? Also how many quarts does the HCH require per oil change?

Normally 12 qts per case, but I believe the Mobil 1 comes in 6 qt cases. Anybody confirm?

Don't know the capacity of the HCH.

Do you need to use a specific type of oil filter if you are going to use Mobil 1 0w20 for an oil change in a HCH, or will any brand do?

I've always used the Mobil 1 brand. I think the number is M110.
