2003-2008 Civic IMA Warranty Extension
Apparently, between November and December of 2012, Honda has extended original IMA warranty on 2003-2008 HCH models in their Service Bulletin 12-077. I only learned about the bulletin and the extension after my CEL and IMA light came on (codes 1600 and 1433 requiring a new IMA battery) just past 170,100 - new limit to the original 10/150,000, which only applies to certain states.
Has any owner of a 2003-2008 HCH - with original IMA battery - reading this received a notice of this service bulletin in the mail from Honda? In your reply, please also advise if you are the original owner and whether your address may have changed since you purchased the vehicle. Thank you.

Re: 2003-2008 Civic IMA Warranty Extension
I'd like to hear about this too. I just had my Check Engine and IMA lights turn on and the dealer told me I need a new IMA battery.
Apparently in UT the warranty is only 9 years and 96,000 miles. I have 134,000.
Has anyone ever contacted Honda customer service and received an exception to one one of these warranties?

Re: 2003-2008 Civic IMA Warranty Extension
Again, I am interested in whether any owner of a 2003-2008 HCH - with original IMA battery - received a notice in the mail from Honda about the extension of the IMA warranty? It would have arrived anytime between November of 2012 to now.
In your reply, please also advise if you are the original owner and whether your address may have changed since you purchased the vehicle.
Thank you.
P.S. Awalkerz: Perhaps registering your Civic in a state that is covered by the original 10/150 warranty now may do the trick. I don't know if you have that option, or if it would work at all - perhaps the original state of purchase is the key. Good luck!

Re: 2003-2008 Civic IMA Warranty Extension
My understanding is there was recent court case won and that resulted in an extended battery warranty addition: 12 months/12K miles on the default.
Plain and simple, if you are past the warranty period, dealer and manufacturer is not going to give you a free pass.....
They may however, work out some kind of credit if you trade in the old battery, I have heard. But in the end it will cost $2K-3K for repair.
