On Sep-16 my hybrid started making grinding noises and went to half power.
The temperature was high and the OBDII reader gave me P0335 [Crankshaft Position (CKP) sensor circuit, no signal]
I bought a new TDC Sense and replaced it today as well as topping off my fluids.
The coolant had gotten low.

After a few miles of test driving,
The check engine light came on and the car had the same symptoms.
This time the OBDII reader came up with
P1449 [Battery Module Overheating,Battery Cell Overheating, Battery Module Individual Voltage Input Deviation, Battery Module Deterioration, Battery Module Deviation]
P1600 [TCM Internal Watchdog Operation]

I doubt the battery would cause the noise.
I'm leaning more towards to Transmission Control Module.
What is the TCM and where is it located?

 

Everything i know about Hybrids I learned in the two weeks since i bought my car.

However, it seems to me that if the battery croaked, and provided reduced power due to a bad cell then the engine would be worked hard and would overheat.

THis car operates at the edge of efficiency and the limits of engineering. The oil is thinner than vodka so it probably has a low tolerance for dumping extra heat.

Grinding and noise will generally begin at startup unless they are caused by a power drag somewhere else.

It usually takes about 3-4 miles before the heating and clicking and codes to start.

 

I'm suggesting the battery is the problem. It overloads the engine and creates a domino affect.

But sooner or later someone with real HCH knowledge will chime in with the truth.

 

Alright,
I've isolated it to the the radiator fan.
It seems that causes the overheating which causes all the other stuff.

I tested all relays and fuses.
They all work.
I tested the fan motor.
It works.
I tested the voltage to the fan.
it reads 0.

 

I got the fans working,
And double checked all my fluids,
But it still overheats.
It didn't throw any OBDII codes this time,
But I suspect that's because I got home before it did.
Any ideas?

 

Again, in the absence of anyone with real knowledge, I'll try to ask inteligent questions.

You got the fan running, reset the codes and it still overheats?

But there's no codes?

Could the battery codes you got earlier have been caused by the heat?

The engine doesn't make any bad noises until it gets hot?

Did you figure out why the fan was not coming on?

Absent any fault codes it's beginning to sound like a mechanical cooling system failure; water pump? stuck thermostat?

 

Random guesses:

Is your 12V battery going bad? It seems like your codes are all over the place.

Or maybe there's a bad temperature sensor somewhere, possibly the coolant temperature sensor?

 

My car had problem about IMA Battery.Check engine and IMA light show up. Code are P1600 and P1449.
I 'd already replace a new battery but Check engine and IMA light show up when i drive a few miles.
And code still are P1600 and P1449.
I would like to know what the root of problem because i just change a new battery but it still has the same problem.
