2007 HCH Road Noise

So I'm at about 25k miles on my 07 HCH and I notice a lot of road noise and I'm beginning to think its the tires.

Has anyone changed there tires to a different brand and noticed reduced road noise?

Differant tires do help a little, but not much. I added insulation in the trunk and around the rear wheel wells for better results. Some memebers have added insulation under the seats and floor mates as well. They claim that really works.I found that lowering the air pressure to 35 lbs did the trick for me more than anything! H

If you go back about a year you should find the old posts. They had pictures in these posts. You could try a search as well.H

Make SURE it's not that your rear upper control arms need replacing. There is a TSB about it, but Honda keeps quiet about these things, hoping you won't find out until AFTER the warranty expires. I think all manufacturers play this horrible game, but that's one of the great things about these online communities (we can let the cat out of the bag :)). Search on this site for threads about it. Apparently they were designed with too much angle (too squat), causing rear tires to ride on and wear out the inner portion of the tires. Eventually, this can cause inner cupping of those tires. I think that's when the noise begins to get out of hand. Honda dealer service departments are well aware of this problem. It's a couple hour fix to replace the 2 arms and get a new alignment.

I had my rear upper control arms replaced recently AND soon thereafter got new tires (Michelin Exalto A/S). What a difference. Only a small hit on MPG thus far, which may diminish over time.

I did notice the inner tread of my rears are wearing more. Is this a good indicator of uper control arm problems?

Yes - negative camber on the tires

I find the road noise in the HCH to be unacceptable....my Renault Le Car from 1976 was quieter.

I've never been in a LeCar, but the road noise in my HCH is terrible at highway speeds.
