Honda Civic 2006 - battery jump starts, but engine immediately dies

I have a 2006 Civic Hybrid, it sat for about a week while we were on vacation and then wouldn't start when we got back. So I jumped the starting battery with my truck, and this enabled me to start the Civic, but it immediately died after starting. I did this several times with the same result, even letting the truck charge the Civic battery for several minutes. Each time the Civic would start normally, then die.

No bars were visible on the IMA battery, but I had the jumper cables hooked up to my truck while it was running, so I thought the alternator on the truck would charge the battery and keep the Civic running after it started. But no go.

Any hints?

Remove the cables from the 12V battery, clean and inspect both the cables and the battery posts, charge the 12V battery overnight with a battery charger, do a load test on the 12V battery after charging.

If it won't hold 12-13 volts for 10 seconds after charging replace the 12V battery.

If it still stalls after verifying 12V battery and cables are good bring it to the dealer.
