Honda Civic IMA 2004 Battery / Voltage Questions Please help
Hi all, Avis here from Edinburgh. Just bought my Honda Civic 2004 IMA few days ago and have few questions.
Please bare with me, its my first hybrid car and I have good few questions. I will ask them in order.
many thanks in advance.
Honda Civic IMA 2004 Manual UK Car.
1. When I start car red battery light comes on and goes away after few minutes. I dont increase rev or any thing i just start car and sit there and after few minutes light goes away. ?
2. I believe these cars dont have an alternator ? correct or not ?
3. When I measure battery with multimeter i get 12.1 or 12.2 volts only, Good battery should have 12.6. is my battery faulty ?
4. When I start car it goes upto 13.8 / 13.9 max from 12.2. Good alternator should produce 14.4 volts min ? do i have faulty alternator ? If I have one ?
5. My battery currently in car is Type 054 CCA360 40ah. When i look online for new battery i see start/stop battery and non start/stop battery ? im confused. Can I just use any standard battery with same CCA and AH and dont worry about start/stop thing ? My car does have start/stop feature ?
Many thanks guys.

#2 Correct. DC-DC converter driven by the HV system.

Precised, spot on clear cut answer.

Looks like I cut my message off...
#5 Almost any 12V that will fit will do. All it does is power the computers prior to the IMA battery starting the car and possibly crank the 12V starter in extreme cold.
Hopefully that's all you're dealing with.

Re: Honda Civic IMA 2004 Battery / Voltage Questions Please help
I have ordered new battery today.
Also I noticed battery terminals were bit corroded and wires corroded.
Will clean them with baking soda and some alcohol.
Also grounding bolt was also rust to F, so will sand it as well.
I will report back tomorrow some time once I have fitted new battery.
Thanks

The ground straps of these vehicles are problematic. I recently posted an image from the manual of their locations. It's likely worth replacing them all as even if they look good, they can corrode internally.
