Default I ran out of fuel today!

I knew that I was getting close, but I didnt think that I was going to run out. According to someone, honda gas tank size was smaller than actual, well...any guesses on how much it took to fill up...

13.831 Gallons.

And, whoever said that the hch would not drive after running out of fuel was incorrect also, although Im sure it was no good for my engine, I was able to drive my car very slowly over the hill and coast down into a gas station. I will never do this again. I felt so sorry for my hch.

Hey, I'm glad you were not stranded at least !!

As far as tank capacity, some guy on the mileage database once got 15.2 gallons into his HCH....

click, ive heard its not good to "top off" because there needs to be room for air to get the correct pressure or something.

Please describe more of what the feel and sound of the electric only propulsion was like and could you see the charge bars dropping as you drove. How far did you go ? How fast ? Just curious..... Thanks, Pete

I drove about a mile (half was downhill in neutral). The bars did drop significantly because there was about 150-200 yards of climb. It was very quiet, the rpms kept acting like the engine was trying to start 100-0-100-0 so on. Basically all you could hear was the quiet hum of the IMA pushing me over the hill at 3-5 mph. My check engine light did come on, I am not sure if that is a result of running out of fuel or from running on IMA only. Seems to be driving fine on the way back to work, aside from it charging while climbing the hill because it had chewed the battery so much.

How many blue bars were on the fuel guage?
I got one left on my first tank, maybe I should get some gas.

Sorry you went through that Ryan but....
COOL!
Glad everything turned out alright.
I've topped off with 14 point something gallons before, I think another person reported 16!

Was your pack full when you ran out and how far would you estimate it to go in EV if you had been on flat, level ground?

Man, before this thread tuckers out, someone will have put 50 gallons in their HCH tank...Hummmm, lets see 50 gallons at 60-70mpg, that would be 3000 to 3500 miles on a tank! Go for it fellows!

I drove on no bars for about 150 miles (at 50ish mpg). I had about 80-85% charge on the battery and I imagine you could have driven on flat land for twoish miles, the hill was a killer and very slow. I DO NOT think it is a good idea to try this, but know that it can be done. Even on flat land I could only do 10-15 mph.
