Default XM and Ipod install

Anybody do there own XM install (to the XM ready unit, not a Roady, etc). Everything I have found makes it seem like you have to take off most of the dash to get to the stereo. Even the Crutchfield site has a warning about having to do modifications.

I changed my head unit on my CRV to add XM and an Ipod adapter. It was very simple to do on the CRV, but for the Civic it looks like it would be a pain to do.

Just wanted to see from someone who did it if it was really that difficult. I will probably just hardwire a Roady XT.

Given, it's like a $900 option to have the dealer install it, I would say it's pretty much a pain to do. I've seen the instructions too and it look like most of the interior of the car has to be removed.
