East of England alliance set to produce ultimate hybrid engine
A Northamptonshire carmaker is celebrating outstanding results from emissions tests on a new petrol-electric hybrid engine. As a result of the trials at Millbrook Proving Ground in Bedfordshire, Connaught Motor Company in Daventry believes that its vision of a 30 per cent CO2 reduction is very much a reality. The tests demonstrated an overall reduction in CO2 emissions of almost 15 per cent over the performance of a regular petrol engine. A vehicle prototype was tested in both standard and hybrid configurations and at two inertia classes. These were the standard inertia class for a Ford Mondeo (the test engine currently installed in the Connaught Type-D) and the inertia class based on the proposed weight of the Connaught Type-D. Excellent results confirm the viability of the technology and system, says Connaught. |
