Toyota to boost US exports 40 pct by end of 2007
The country's top automaker Toyota Motor Corp plans to boost its exports to the United States by 40 pct over the next two years to meet strong demand for small cars and hybrid vehicles, the Nihon Keizai economic daily reported.
Toyota plans to export 1.1 mln vehicles to the key US market by 2007, up 40 percent from 2004 levels, the Nikkei reported, citing export plans Toyota has submitted to shipping companies.
Toyota, the second-largest carmaker in the world, wants to increase exports of small cars in which the big three US automakers are weak, as well as its popular gas-electric hybrid vehicles, the newspaper said.
