Toyota’s Prius petrol/electric hybrid car has passed the landmark of a quarter of a million sales, confirming its status as the world’s highest-volume hybrid.
Prius sales in the UK have reached almost 1,400 units so far this year. Sales in Europe for 2004 are expected to reach 8,500 units.
For 2005, the sales target has been set at 15,000 units for Europe, while an increase in production capacity will allow 180,000 cars to be sold worldwide. Earlier this month Prius was named the 2005 European Car of the Year by a 58-member international jury.

Looks like I was right in cricizing Toyota's prediction of selling 300,000 Synergy Drive systems total for '05. Unless there are other vehicles in Toyota's line-up currently using this in other parts of the world that I don't know about?
