For 16 years, the Tour de Sol has brought together students, manufacturers, energy suppliers, press, government representatives, and educated consumers for a celebration showcasing both the sustainable cars of today and of the future. Participants can compete for over $10,000 in prize money and 35 category Awards.

Monte Carlo-style Rally at the Tour de Sol May 13-14, 2005

NEW in 2005! For the first time we invite owners of advanced vehicles, such as hybrids and biodiesel vehicles, to participate in the 2005 Monte Carlo-style Rally at the Tour de Sol. The Rally will offer a fun and challenging event that will also elevate the awareness of advanced vehicle technology, educate the public about currently available advanced vehicles, and demonstrate the performance and efficiency of hybrid electric and alternate fueled vehicles. The Rally destination is the Tour de Sol at Saratogas Spring Auto Show held on one of the most beautiful and historic spas in the United States. The Saratoga Spa State Park offers 250 landscaped acres, historic buildings with mineral spring baths, golf, walking an biking trails, the historic Gideon Putnam Hotel, the Saratoga Performing Arts Center, and our host, the Saratoga Auto Museum. Self paced Monte Carlo-style Rally - Entrants will travel to Saratoga Springs, NY at their own pace, starting at any of numerous pre-selected starting sites. There will be 9 categories of vehicles, with a rally minimum distance of 150 miles. The Hybrid Rally finish ceremony and award presentation will be part of Saratogas Spring Auto Show on Sat. May 14 at the Saratoga Spa State Park in Saratoga Springs, NY

Starting sites to date Boston, MA; Trenton, NJ; Buffalo, NY; Cleveland, Ohio; Salt Lake City, Utah; Portland, OR; Wash, DC; Toronto, CAN; Uncasville, CT. Additional sites will be posted as they become available.

Finish site Stewarts Shops at Exit 13, off I87, the Northway, in Saratoga Springs, NY, is the official finish line, and refueling location. Entrants must arrive by 12 Noon on Saturday May 14, before proceeding to the Saratogas Spring Auto Show at the Saratoga Spa State Park, Saratoga Springs, NY (30 mi. north of Albany).

Route your choice Any route that gets you to Saratoga Springs, NY by noon on Sat. May 14, (or by 9AM on Sat. May 14 to be part of the Auto Show display).

Min. miles traveled = 150 miles (no max. distance limit, but awards for longer distances)

Prizes and trophies Approx. 35 awards and trophies, for variety of recognition.
