Four self-described "middle-aged hybrid drivers" staged a two-day LeMans-style race to see how far they could drive a Prius on a tank of gasoline. Using "pulse and glide" techniques (as described at HybridCars.com by Kip Munro), they got 110MPG. After an initial silence, Toyota found the good sense to applaud the group and send them goodies.
Hey fellas, what kind of goodies did you get from Toyota?

Got this from this page:

Actually, Toyota sent us some Prius T-shirts and lapel pins just before the event, thanks to Wayne's contact work. Some folks from a different division of Toyota contacted Dan Kroushl after the marathon and said they'd be sending something along (NOT new cars, they emphasized) but either it hasn't arrived yet or it's at Dan's and he hasn't returned from his vacation yet.

Nothing yet. Still waiting. It has been about a week since I spoke to the Corporate Manager of Toyota's Customer Experience Center in Torrance, CA.

Thought the article on "Pulse and Glide" was great. Created a webpage so all could read and enjoy. Click below:

These guys deserve recognition for a great ride and record.

kudos to Toyota for adding the P&G article! That's going out on a limb pretty far for a big company- telling Joe driver how to work outside the 'normal' driving envelope.
