Does cruise control cost more in gas?

Re: Does cruise control cost more in gas?
On long trips, as I just completed this week (8000 miles +) what made the difference was . . . speed.
We would drive the US Hwy system (as US 50) , and even state hwys, using CC at posted speed, usually 55. The result was an average speed of over 50 mph.
My best run , on the other hand, was Utah - Wyoming (59.1 mpg, calcuated). That run was using CC on I - 90.
If I may make a suggestion which involves stating one's mpg - that you indicate if it display, or calculated. I found that the difference can be significant from one tank to the next.
In any case, we always drove, when able, with CC - even into small towns where there was little or no traffic. That was down to 30 mph.
