These figures are pretty typical to what I usually see.

6 Miles, 48.8MPG, 56-52MPH, Pulling a 2 mile hill
10 Miles, 52.2MPG, 58MPG
15 Miles, 53.7MPG, 58MPH
20 Miles, 56.3MPG, 62-52MPH, Pulling a steep 3 mile hill.
25 Miles, 56.3MPG, Exiting freeway, speed limit is 45.
30 Miles, 56.7MPG
35 Miles, 58.6MPG
39.2 Miles, 60.5MPG, Begin reboot.
40 Miles, 61.3MPG, end of reboot.
41 Miles, 61.6MPG, Begin reboot.
41.9 Miles, 62.8MPG, End reboot.
42 Miles, 62.8MPG, Begin Reboot.
43 Miles, 63.5MPG, End Reboot. Begin pulling 1.9 miles of horrendous hills.

Miles driven 55-60MPH: 25
Miles driven 45MPH: 21.3
Average speed: 50 MPH
Fastest speed: 64
Slowest speed: 28 (35MPH Limit at end of reboot)
Miles driven in reboot: 2.7
Total number of possible stops (lights, stop signs etc): 18
Total number of roll stops on this trip: 9
Total number of complete stops on this trip: 4
Final MPG: 64.3

Note:
One trip option would be to use the freeway for the entire trip except
for a 1 mile beginning and a 2 mile final segment.
However, final mpg would be 52-55 and gain 7-10 minutes over the trip.

 

I found it enjoyable reading. It looks as if the car warmed up between 6 and 10 miles. I would guess your 64 MPH was at the bottom of a hill on the freeway?

___You know, one of these days (summer time of course) you will have to make it up here to Illinois for some real flat-land fun. 55 mph limits in and around Chicago, max elevation changes per hill/overpass of < 120’, and the absolutely worst fuel in the nation. Make sure you bring your own for that 70 mpg tank I am waiting for from you

xcel, Today I had to go to Midway. First time I've been on a highway with my civic in about 6 or more months. My milage just shot up I envy you guys that get to drive highway daily. Plus I think the B.P. I filled up at a few days ago might have switched to summer blend. I'm getting close to +5mpg increase on this tank so far and its only rising.

___It was your highway drive and the warmer spring like temps we saw today. Our good - garbage gas comes on or around April 1st from my understanding. Still better then our current bad - garbage gas though

What's reboot?

 

Hi AZCivic:

___Shutting down the ICE and simply rebooting the car without starting it while coasting in Neutral down a slope or to a stop. When you shut down the ICE in an HCH or Insight, you turn the key back one click and forward one to reboot the car. Not start it (two clicks forward) but just reboot the computers and logic so it is ready to start and so it is recording the miles traveled at an infinite mpg.

I just have to point out to AZcivic that this proceedure can be dangerous. There has been a brief discussion before. If someone is going to do it then make sure you know the dangers.

 

Thanks for the info. I always just put it in 5th and lift completely off the throttle when traveling down hills that are steep enough to not need any engine assistance, but I guess in theory being in neutral with the engine off would give you the ability to coast at your desired speed on less steep grades than what's required to do so with the engine engaged.
