I realize it is not my hope for high prices that will change your driving habits, but the prices themselves.
Is that your misunderstanding ?
My wife and I will still work on hypermiling the Accord and look into this savings and look into another fuel sipper. Ive parked the Ranger truck to save money, not the enviroment. Money plain and simple. But to think one will force me into this life style by hoping for ultra high gas is insane.

$2.67, $2.77, $2.87

Jacksonville, FL

They've actually dropped $.09 in the last week, even with Katrina. I won't complain.

No misunderstanding on my part at all.

Im floored that you would like to see prices go up for the so called better good of mankind. And it would appear if you had the power to force the issue you would.

My local station was $2.65 Sunday night when I topped off and topped off my 16 gallons of gas cans. I topped off again today after work and it's $2.71 already. They're expecting Phoenix to average over $2.80/gal for 87 octane by next week and over $3/gal for 91 octane.

let the gouging begin, I saw $3.29/3.39 for E10/Reg respectively on my drive home tonight. Most are still hanging around the 2.85/2.95. I am really quite surprised to hear that the heartland is hanging in the top. I would have really thought that california would be up there.

Brandon, you filled cans for fear of shortage, or to save two dollars ?

If I had the power ..

I would remove all fossil-fuel subsidies. No more, no less.

And if you are thinking only tax shelters, you have no idea what the hidden societal costs really are.

I know I would. Because it's the only thing that will make you change (collectively, not individually, although there may be hope for you yet).

Your almighty love for the dollar trumps all.

So that is the weapon that will be used against you.

Not by me.

But by the (former) 3rd world countries whom you exploited for your collective gain these many years, on so many fronts.

Schadenfreude...

Filled up every portable fuel canaster I have.

2, 5 gallon fuel tanks
1, 2.5 gallon canister
2, 1 gallon tanks
28 gallons in the truck

If worst comes to worst, we can siphon the truck, so we have about 40 useable gallons in a pinch.

To save even more gas, I have curtailed my workweek to 4 days.
In that 4 days, I carpool for 3 of them.
Also started driving for mileage. 55mph is hard to get used to, but I'm hoping for big mileage.
