Couldn't be happier with my 2005 HCH 5spd. The tips here have been very helpful. I just finished my first tank which started at about 42 but I got it up to 47.3 at the end which included some mash-the-gas-pedal experiments to see how much driving style would affect my commute.
My best trip (about 40 miles) was 58+ mpg (mostly flat highway at 55ish, traffic was heavy but steady). You should have seen my face when I saw that mpg reading!
My low was one of my mashing experiments at 28 mpg over about 10 miles.
I have noticed that when highway traffic slows down, my mileage goes up. Now I don't get so irritated when that happens.

Let us welcome our newest hypermiler! kmh3, you're off to a very good start. Either you've been applying the tips from these and other forums, or you're just a "natural hypermiler". Either way, I look forward to hearing about your future exploits.
