Default 2006 FEH Wrench/Service Soon

I just got my Escape Hybrid a month ago and all of a sudden I have had the wrench and service soon pop up 6 times. My scan gauge does not show an error code and as soon as I stop and restart the car both the wrench and service soon disappear. Anyone have any ideas?

Yes...

It looks to me like the battery door actuator failure mentioned in SEVERAL other threads here, search for them.

The ONLY way you can capture a failure code is to drive to a DEALER, directly when the light is on and NOT shut off the engine (don't let them shut it off either). If the engine shuts off it will clear, if you use any other aftermarket devices it will probalby not show up either.

This sounds like a blend door problem with the rear AUX battery A/C system. Read other threads on ways to check this with the SGII by Desertdog (Carl). I would not cycle the ignition and take it to the dealer when it happens while under warranty.

You can check for the presence of non-uniform Diagnostic Trouble Codes for the TBCM using the BTC xgauge:

TXD: 0745220200
RXF: 046205020600
RXD: 3008
MTH: 000100010000
NAM: BTC

If this shows 0, you could step through the various modules to see if any others are reporting DTCs. Change the 0745 in the TXD to the following:

0720 - Instrument cluster
0730 - Power Steering Module
0745 - Traction Battery Control Module
0760 - ABS module
0761 - 4WD module

If the BTC for the TBCM shows a non-zero number, then you retrieve the DTC with the following xgauge:

TXD: 07451800FF00
RXF: 024D14580000
RXD: 2810
MTH: 000100010000
NAM: DTC

The DTCs will be coded per OBD-II specs. When I had the blend door issue I was able to retrieve the DTC at any time, whether the wrench light was lit or not for at least 2 weeks.

Thanks Carl

I just copied this information to a Word Perfect file and a paper to carry in my FEH. Very valuable information and I suggest others with the SGII do the same for future codes that the SGII does not show as a standard code. You really provide a great service Carl with your knowledge.

Thanks for all the help. I will follow Desert Dogs advice and try programing codes for various modules. The wrench pops up at the most inconvenient time and location.

Guess I'm finally gonna take mine in for this too. But has any 08 owners with a wrench light also have a message? I get the light from time to time, but no message center message.

Does a large dealer normally stock the new parts, or will I be out the FEH a day or 2?
I know I read in one of the other posts that apparently there is a new actuator, is it the same part numbers, or different (So I can verify before I leave the dealer)? I don't recall seeing that asked/answered previously.

Any idea of a price if I decide to pay vs claim under warrenty? I got some deal that says use it or refund it after 5 yrs. Chances are I'll need something else done in the next 3 years (hopefully not).

Howdy,

On my 2008 FEH the wrench light came on twice and went back off the next time I started the car. I brought it to the dealer and they found an issue and fixed it in one day (I think just a couple hours). Here's what was on my receipt:

"E29 has come on 2 times
Faulty blend door actuator
Performed EEC test, replaced aux mode door actuator,
reprogram traction control module as per TSB072512"

Hope this helps!

OK. called the dealer today to check if my extended warranty covered fixing blend door actuator, he said it didn't. I have the premium care Ford extended warranty, anyone have experience with this.
