If the BTC for the TBCM shows a non-zero number, then you retrieve the DTC with the following xgauge:

TXD: 07451800FF00
RXF: 024D13580000 THIS SHOULD BE A 4 - 024D145800
RXD: 2010
MTH: 000100010000
NAM: DTC

On my FEH with BTC displaying 0, the DTC xgauge shows 0000. Yours might be showing 9239 ...... or something else
No problem. I'm amazed you can do it from memory at all. The result now is a value of
0192 for DTC (see pic). Does that mean anything to you? :|

Yes, it probably means I screwed up again! One last try - change the RXD to 2810 - that should be it.......post what you get with that.

Thanks!

If the 0192 was correct - that would mean the DTC is P0192, which isn't listed as a TBCM DTC. I'm pretty confident you will get 9239 when RXD is set to 2810. I need my J2190 document to get everything straight. Go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OBD-II_PIDs and look at the mode 3 DTC decoding and you will understand.

Now you know why I said it was a PITA............

BINGO! With the corrected RXD input value of 2810 my DTC value is now 9239.

Which means, you have B1239 DTC from the TBCM! Per the OBD-II decoding of DTCs, the first digit 9 decodes to B1, and the rest, of course, decode to 239. For reference, the decoding of the first digit is as follows:

0 - P0
1 - P1
2 - P2
3 - P3
4 - C0
5 - C1
6 - C2
7 - C3
8 - B0
9 - B1
A - B2
B - B3
C - U0
D - U1
E - U2
F - U3

So, like the time I had this on my FEH, you can retrieve the DTC whether the wrench light or SERVICE SOON message is lit or not. The BTC just has to be 1 (or more.) If you take it in to Ford, I would probaly remove the SG and just tell them that a scan tool showed the B1239 code from the TBCM.

I don't know if this will be included in any future software rev of the SG. So far I only know that it works for Ford CAN vehicles. LinearLogic probably wouldn't incorporate this into the SCAN function unless it worked for a wider range of vehicles. I haven't talked to them in a while but if I find anything out I'll certainly let people know.

Just a quick note to thank DesertDog and everyone again. Sure enough, the actuator for the battery fresh air door failed in our '06 FEH w/a bit shy of 30k miles (have had the vehicle since 72 miles/brand new; just don't put a ton o' miles on per year.)

The fix is more in the neighborhood of $350 parts+labor here in 78258 (San Antonio, TX), FYI.

That price seems excessive. Labor should be more like 1 hour, and I thought the part was under $20.

Receipt's out in the car. I don't know where you got that info (1 hour, $20 part) but it was a tad higher than I'd read/expected -- I'd read $250 parts+labor several times (could have been from the same poster ;-) In fairness, it came out to more like $330 -- we hadn't picked the steed up yet and gotten our final receipt when I followed up here to thank DesertDog, et al. I suspect they charged us the silly diagnostic fee even though we came armed with the TSB printout & the TBCM code, but managing our stress levels is worth more to us than having to try and haggle down a service advisor/billing advisor.

We got the vehicle back in one day (7 AM drop-off, 5 PM pickup) & a free rental car for the day (Focus--alas, no Fusion Hybrid--as if!), which is itself worth a bit of money to me after some bad experience w/another dealership (which I no longer go to) who routinely took 2 days for any work/sched. maint... and still wouldn't part with a rental.

As with so much in life, your mileage may vary. ;-)

'service soon' and wrench light on. 2006 FEH, 100K done. How much will Ford charge to check this?
