Question 2007 Navi questions

I know the '07 has CD based Nav. I never use it so I had a few questions. Since they are CD based, are they updated or are you limited to the routes and roads burned on the CD? Second, how does the Nav react to newer routes/roads not on the CD? does it melt down? I am in the process of selling our hybrid and the buyer wanted the info. I personally think the CD/DVD Nav systems are a victim of Moore's Law and a real time GPS like Tom Tom or Garmin are a better option.

Thanks!

I have an 06 with the cd Nav system, When you are on a road that is not on the cd it reports you off road until you get back on a road in the system. As far as CD update it would be cheaper to by a portable Garmin. You can get models with life time map updates now and they have a much better guidance system than the built in Nav system. I use a Garmin 265 WT.

When I crossed over into another region my car just floated in space. 99.9% of the times the maps are fine.
